Starting areas
The starting blocks are located on the bus lane near the Van Heekplein. Please be in your starting area at least 10 minutes before the start. The colour of the starting block you are allocated to is shown on your BIB number.

Collecting your race number
You can collect your race number and any extras you may have ordered (shirt, BibBits) on Saturday 23 April from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 24 April from 07.30 a.m. to one hour before the start at Saxion University at M.H. Tromplaan 28. Please note: your BIB number will not be sent to your home address!
You can find your BIB number in the Close App, the Enschede Marathon Tracking app and on the lists of names at the registration desk.
At Saxion there is also a Runners Expo: get informed about sports and running related products and services.
The distance from Saxion University to the start is approximately 1 km.
Collecting the BIB number for someone else
You can collect the BIB number of a running buddy. Make sure you have a screen shot of the number from the Close app or Enschede Marathon Tracking app.
Bring your own bottle of water/sports drinks
Delivery of (water) bottles to the registration desk at Saxion can be done on Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. or Sunday, April 24 between 8 a.m. and 08.30 a.m.
Please state your BIB number and the kilometer mark of the care station(s) on the bottles. The maximum height of the bottles is 24 centimeters. Bottles that are higher than this height will not be delivered to the supply point.
Enschede Marathon Tracking app
Follow your favourite runners live with the Enschede Marathon Tracking app. You will know exactly when someone started, where he is on the course and when he finishes. Handy for you and your supporters! In the app, you will find your own performance, start lists, the latest news and updates, the results and more!
Pay extra attention to the route of marathon and half marathon
Please note, the DEMCON Marathon and Movella Half Marathon largely use the same course. Therefore there are a number of important points on the course where you need to pay extra attention. You can read which ones these are here.
How to get there
During the Enschede Marathon the city is less accessible than usual. Please keep in mind that you need more time to get from A to B and that there are routes you need to follow. The maps on this page will help you take the right route to be in the starting area on time.
DEMCON Photo Moment 29 km
As a participant in the marathon you will be photographed around the 29 km point. The photo that is made here, is shown at the finish when you arrive there. So don’t forget to smile!
In cooperation with the University of Twente, we are investigating how we can take your running experience to the next level with interactive technologies. Have you submitted a story? Maybe we will see your photo and story on a large screen in the finish lane.
Time registration
The time registration of all distances takes place by means of a chip, which is attached to the back of the bib number. Please note: always wear your start number on your chest, not on your back!
Limit
The limit for running the DEMCON Marathon is 5 hours. Before 2.25 p.m. you have to have passed the point 35.1 km.
Time clocks along the course
Clocks are located at all 5 kilometer points, at the half marathon point and at the finish. The kilometer points are indicated by signs at the side of the road.
Pacers
Two pacers start per finish time. You can recognise them by the coloured balloons in the starting area.

All results can be found on our website after the event. Here you can also download your certificate free of charge.
Water and (medical) service stations
Every 2.5 km: water stations
Every 5 km: refreshment stations with water, bananas, sports drinks and water sponges
After the finish: water and sports drinks
In the event of an accidental drop-out during the race: every 5 km (at the care stations) vans to take you to the start/finish line.
Bag drop off
On 24 April you can hand in your bag in the truck opposite the Koningsplein. If you have not ordered this with your pre-registration, you will have to pay € 1,00 on the spot. Please note: payment must be exact and in cash!
Attach the bag label of your starting number to your bag and hand it in. You can then collect your bag with your starting number. Enschede Marathon cannot be held responsible for loss or theft of personal belongings.
Changing, showering and toilets
Changing clothes and showering can be done at -1 in the Van Heek garage under the H.J. van Heekplein. Use of the showers/changing rooms is at your own risk. Toilets can be found at the start, finish and along the route at water and care stations.
Medal engraving
After the finish, you can have your medal engraved at the merchandise tent on the Van Heekplein (€ 8.00). If you ordered this at registration, a medal will be printed on your start number as proof.
Club Challenge
Participate as an association or club! The three fastest members per club make up the Marathon Club Challenge classification. Prizes: 1st prize € 500,-, 2nd prize € 300,- 3rd prize € 200,-.
Make sure that at least three members participate in the DEMCON Marathon and send an email to [email protected] at the latest on 23 April stating that your team wants to participate in the Club Challenge.
Parking (paid parking!)
Through this link you can find more information about parking by bike and car. We advise to come by bike or by public transport. On 24 April paid parking applies. Shops are closed.
Massage
Sportverzorging Oost Nederland will be present to give you a massage after your run. The location of the massage will be indicated by signs.
Events Plaza
On the H.J. Van Heekplein there are various stands, you can eat and drink something and there are fun activities for children in the KidsDORP. Click here for the map of the experience and cheering boxes on the H.J. Van Heekplein.

Didn’t order a shirt, but would still like an Enschede Marathon shirt? An Enschede Marathon running shirt is for sale at the merchandise stand on the Van Heekplein for € 22.50 (including a print of your finish time).
